We are heading into the summer with a small amount of anxiety. Many may not quite understand the collaboration process. This process is not so bad and I want to help all of us understand the process a bit better. I have been through this at Saint Paul's in Hingham. First we are not merging. Each parish holds its own identity. Saint Anthony's will continue with its own infrastructure as well as Saint Mary's. Each will have their own finance committees etc. We cannot share our finances with each other. There will of course be changes in the Mass times. Our new pastor will have to travel back and fourth to accommodate each parish needs with regards to Mass. The new schedule will be something to get used to, however the most important thing is we will still be able to worship and that is a good thing. The change is necessary. Our new and temporary pastors will do their best to ease the change for the good of both parishes. This will require all of us to work together and embrace our faith. Change is sometimes hard. Like most things in life we get out of it what we put into it. We most often find the change as an opportunity to embrace our faith in a new light. We become rejuvenated with the newness. Just like Lent we enter into an uncertainty and darkness to remind ourselves of the glory and in the end it is the Glory of the risen Christ that defines us.
