I often hear people say things like, this is the time of giving, or this is the time of year for peace on earth, etc. I then ask why? Shortly after Christmas there will be the new year. This is the time of resolutions. Of course most of those are probably short lived. Again I ask the question, why? I find myself doing the same thing. Then I think about this one thing that is said as well. "I have to get to church early to get a seat on Christmas eve Mass. The time of year when everyone goes. Do we find ourselves annoyed by that. I used to, and then I realized one important thing. Good for those who came. Perhaps this is the moment they needed, just like myself. Who am I to say anything except, welcome. I came back to the church many years ago. I knew it was there and I knew it would always welcome me back. Just like the prodigal son. What I needed was God to tell me, "the other son", you are always loved, now love the other as you are loved.
