While we prepare for the second trip to Honduras at the end of June we begin to understand the importance of remembering the purpose of our mission. Life has a way of taking us over and we lose sight of what is truly important. This is why I love the season of lent. We begin with a simple message on Ash Wednesday of humbling ourselves and reflect on what is important. We seek forgiveness and we strive to renew our commitment to our faith and in each other. We often hear things are not the same. Life is too busy. The world is in turmoil. The truth is this has always been the case. Each Sunday each of us has the opportunity to take an hour to come together and reflect upon our past week and the week ahead. Lent provides us the opportunity each day to reflect on what is important in our lives. We empower ourselves and each other by giving up small things and more importantly we decide to do something more for each other. This is the beauty of our mission. Each day on the mission after prayer and reflection we say these simple words, "keep coming back" This can mean so many different things. The truth is we all have Jesus who wants us to keep coming back.
