Casting The First Stone

Sunday, April 14, 2019

Casting the first stone, Why do we do it? This gospel story is my favorite. I find it to be the most relatable in my life. Many years ago while on vacation with 13 members of my family we were visiting Assisi. After a while I found myself annoyed with the complaining. While we were walking up some steps there was a stone sitting there. I saw it, smiled and put it in my pocket. I touch that stone every morning to remind me I cannot cast it. Most times I do not, but every once in awhile I do. The good news is I always get another chance. Some have said God put that stone there for me. I always say back, no I am not that important. I just remembered the story you know like the one when Abraham told the rich man "they have Moses and the profits". I believe in the free will God gave us. The plan is we can do good or not. We have the gospels to guide us. We do the best we can and we have to be honest with ourselves and sometimes we cast the stone. We get another chance,77 times 7. Well if we get the chance then so do those who trespass against us. Thank God we have Moses, the prophets and Jesus to guide us.

Sincerely,
Bill Mezzetti
